European Vocational Skills Week 2022

Spring 2022

The week 2020

Summary of the Week

The 5th edition of the European Vocational Skills Week took place from 09-13 November 2020. Being held during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was organised as a 100% online event, with a wide range of stakeholders involved and a series of partner activities taking place digitally across the EU.

As in previous years, the Week 2020 aimed to promote VET as a way to help young and adult learners discover their talents and as a smart choice that leads to high-quality jobs and increased employability.

More specifically, the Week 2020 focused on how vocational skills can help deliver on the Commission priorities of a European Green Deal and a Europe fit for the digital age, both becoming increasingly important with the ways of working having changed during the crisis. Both the themes are also closely connected to the European Skills Agenda, presented by the European Commission on 1 July 2020 to partner up for sustainable competitiveness, social fairness and resilience.

As a part of the European Skills Agenda, the Week 2020 also saw the Pact For Skills launched on 10 November 2020. The Pact for Skills is a shared engagement model for skills development in Europe that aims to mobilise public and private stakeholders to act on up- and reskilling of people of working age.
The online event was watched by almost 800 people.
