We were encouraged to work with young people who were studying or were going to study VET, and particularly with those who were somewhat demotivated or were not very clear about what to do with their training and their future. For this reason, we chose the very motivating methodology of outdoor learning.
Our adventure began in Scotland, where we travelled with trainers from Ireland, Poland and Spain to learn first-hand about outdoor methodology. We learnt how to go on week-long expeditions in nature to develop self-awareness and acquire new skills.
Outdoor learning enabled us to help young people from 18 to 29 years old to know themselves better and to redefine their values or discover new ones. We also provided them with tools that helped them to acquire new transversal skills.
The result was spectacular - 999 young people took part in the course, of which 80% got a job or are currently taking training courses to improve their employability.
