We participated in apprenticeships in Rimini, Italy where we gained professional experience at a vineyard. It was a completely new experience for us. Podere dell’Angelo is a family vineyard founded in 1923. It is situated on the hill of Verucchio.
The wine owes its unique flavour to the soil and the balance between limestone and clay. A type of sedimentary rock called ‘tuff’ supplies the grapevines with minerals. We participated in grape harvesting for the first time.
We got to know grape varieties, wine growing requirements and how the parameters of a good wine are determined. Every year, the owners promote a new flavour of wine, combining grape varieties to achieve the desired taste and aroma. We observed the work on the wine production line and helped with bottle labelling.
Thanks to the internships, we also got to know the cultivation culture in Italy and their appreciation of organic farming. Doing a mobility internship also means getting to know the world, other people and their culture and history. We visited Venice, San Marino and Rimini.
