Hello! My name is Silvia, I am 21 years old and I am from the city of La Coruña (Galicia), an autonomous community in the north of Spain. My mobility opportunity arose after I decided to do the Intermediate Vocational Training in auxiliary nursing care.
I always knew that my calling was in healthcare, but I never imagined that I would come to like it so much. Thanks to Professor Lola Parrado who, at my study centre IES Pobra do Caramiñal, offered me a mobility opportunity, and to the Spanish Service for the Internationalisation of Education (SEPIE), my internship abroad in a beautiful city in the south of Italy called Reggio Calabria was approved.
My VET began in September 2020 with a trip from northwest Spain to southern Italy, where I was picked up by my colleagues from the Villa Sant'Anna Clinic where I began my family planning internship. My stay that year was short-lived; due to the difficult COVID-19 situation in Europe at the time, I had to return home in November.
I finished my internship in Spain but was offered the possibility to continue my mobility experience. Among the various opportunities, I chose to return to the south – the city, the people, the culture with which I’d fallen in love – for an experience that changed my life.
