State Vocational Education Institute / Štátny Inštitút Odborného Vzdelávania

SIOV is a directly managed organisation of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic. It performs tasks related to the pedagogical and organisational provision of education and training in secondary vocational schools, via apprenticeships and in practical training centres.

It focuses on: the preparation of documents and opinions on draft conceptual materials; laws, standards, regulations and basic pedagogical documents for the field of apprenticeship education; the preparation of methodological materials; the provision of advisory, consultancy, methodological and information services in the field of practical training; and the implementation of activities related to international activities coordinated by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic.

Since 2018, SIOV has been promoting the agenda of lifelong learning and lifelong counselling and performing tasks related to their implementation in the Slovak Republic.
