Hello! It’s Helena from Finland telling you my story as an exhange student in social and health care sector. In 2018 I had a chance to participate in Erasmus exchange program, which I gladly accepted. I traveled to northern Spain for 6 months. During my stay I worked in nursery mainly in a group with under 3-year-old children. I also spent a day in a vocational school and was able to work in older children’s summer camp. I also took a language course that helped me develop my Spanish language skills faster.

During my exhange program, I met inspiring early childhood education teachers that had a lot of experience and who were really skilled in their job.
I'm definitely glad that I took part of this program because I have benefited a lot from the exchange. I developed professionally, and in addition to spiritual growth, I learned many new skills, and gained new perspectives that help me also in social work that I now do with different families. Spanish language skills have helped me even after the exchange and employers clearly value the diverse experience and language skills. An Erasmus exchange is a great opportunity to gain such skills and experience!
