I always wanted to choose the technical path. I had good grades at elementary school and I was keen on modeling, therefore I wanted a practically oriented field. At a Secondary Technical School of Transportation in Prague I got an opportunity to become a part of a team that built a hydrogen powered RC car model for the international competition Horizon Hydrogen Grand Prix. The project was partially supervised by our practical training teacher. We verified our theoretical knowledge, applied creative and innovative ideas. Every year we improved our car and placed higher in national and also in international race rankings. Hydrogen accompanies me even after my graduation. Currently I am working in a research team in technological start-up company Leancat which develops advanced fuel cells. I‘m grateful to apply in the real industrial practice not only knowledge, but mainly the work ethic and problem-solving approach acquired in school and Horizon program. I have to agree with our mentor and organizer of the program, Mr Václav Bystrianský, who says that in the Horizon project each student can find an area for improvement and strengthen his/her role in the team at the same time.
