Knowledge, skills and a new direction

A vocational training exchange trip to the Czech Republic helped Peter to decide where he wanted to take his career.
Peter Skuhra from Slovakia has always been interested in technology and engineering, but wasn’t quite sure how he could turn that interest into a career. That all changed thanks to a two-week Erasmus+ exchange course in the Czech Republic.
The vocational training experience was an eye-opening one for Peter. It not only introduced him to specialist knowledge and vocational skills for the IT and automation industries, but also helped him to realise what he wanted to do professionally. The experience he gained played a key role in pursuing that goal.
Peter now works as a specialist maintenance engineer at one of the most well known car manufacturers in the world. He uses the skills and knowledge he gained during the Erasmus+ exchange on a regular basis, and is happy to acknowledge the part the programme has played in his success: “The Erasmus+ experience helped me to grow in my career.”
More recently, Peter applied those skills during the EuroSkills 2016 competition in Gothenburg, Sweden. Competing against 15 other European teams in the mechatronics category, he and a friend were challenged to build a device in just three days and Peter used his past experiences to excel.
