A real inspiring VET Ambassador… trained in our school!

I am an Italian trainer of mechatronic/automotive in a VET center in Padova. In the past all my students started their school career in this field with no concern about their future: I had no problems in proving them how VET assures chances of employment. Nowadays things have changed, economic difficulties affect our lives and sometimes I find it difficult to encourage young students when they lose hope…Fortunately, great things happen: last February my students had the chance to meet Paride Contin, Project Engineer for Continental Automotive in London, previously employed by Ferrari Racing Teams…the top in their training field! He visited our centre – which indeed is his old school ENAIP Veneto – to tell his young ‘colleagues’ his story, made of hard study, huge sacrifice and passion, but also of apprenticeships and mobility abroad (job trips and the moving to UK in 2008). Paride was impressive in showing through his experience how VET skills can open the door to a profession, particularly now, in times of uncertainty. And the reaction of the students was amazing: hopeful and confident again!
PS: it’s not accident that he was the Italian Ambassador for EU VET Skills Week in 2018!
