German Skilled Crafts Performance Championship (PLW)

The German Skilled Crafts Performance Championship (PLW) is held annually and organised at Federal level by the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZDH).

It showcases the advantages of in-company training and raises public awareness of the importance of vocational training in the crafts sector.

The competition dates back to 1951 and is held in all the over 130 craft professions at up to 4 levels (guild level, Chamber of Crafts level, Land level and Federal level).

Entry requirements are grade "Good" in the Chamber exam (Gesellenpruefung) and max. 27 of age. Up to 3,000 young craftswomen and craftsmen take part in a PLW each year, about 800 of them are Land winners and compete on the federal level.
