We need food and many traditional meals are made with bread. Attending a VET programme in baking, and working with dough, is an art – it combines the technology for making bread and the art of creating a flavourful product.
We have deepened our knowledge, moving from simply daily bread to other interesting and delicious pastry products representative of all cultures throughout the ages. Professional VET in baking and pastry-making will forever be a necessity because cultures and traditions are diverse and still have many secrets waiting to be discovered by others.
In our training in the school’s lab or in stakeholders’ facilities, we have realised how many products we can make if we learn to be creative with a few simple ingredients like water, flour, salt and yeast. If we add small amounts of other ingredients, the creative miracle begins.
From this, we get fantastic smells, interesting shapes, succulent flavours and the confidence inspired by improving our skills and developing our talents. A vocational job in baking requires the same special combination of competences needed by other jobs like knowledge, imagination, talent, desire, confidence, persistence, dreams, success, luck and art – and finally…we become renowned professionals in the field of baking and pastry-making.
