Ever since we began offering apprenticeships, every trainee has done an internship abroad. For two years now, we have been organising apprenticeship projects for the entire class.
These projects involve the renovation of an historical rail vehicle of a given country. The trainees must plan the work and then work together as a team to complete it.
Sometimes it is difficult to get parts and materials. This was often a problem in Eritrea. When this happens, it is interesting to observe the trainees. Some of them grow tremendously, and some of these you might never have expected to do so.
This year we were in Greece, and everyone can be proud of what we achieved. We as trainers have also learned a great deal and have come to recognise how much potential our young colleagues have. Perhaps we would never have been able to recognise it without these internships.
