I wanted to live an experience outside my comfort zone. I made the decision as a personal challenge. I had to discover my abilities. Each job site was different, so I was learning new things every day.
I've met wonderful people and improved my English significantly. I've learned a lot about my field, how to organise myself and what to do when incidents arise.
I have overcome the lack of energy and motivation to go to the store, as otherwise I don't eat regularly, and, ultimately, I have found value in my home and in my personal life.
This experience will change my view of others in my country, and make me more understanding towards others who come to it, not relying on negative stereotypes or rejecting them. In my field, it isn’t common to find women on job sites and my colleagues, all men, have appreciated the dedication and physical effort that I have shown.
For me, it has been satisfying to break the glass ceiling for women when it comes to installation. You will have discouraging thoughts and the road is not free of difficult moments.
But life is full of different moments and participating in Erasmus will give you some very special ones. It's an opportunity that you won’t have forever - you shouldn’t miss it - try it!
