SFP
The Service National de la formation professionnelle (SFP) is the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth’s responsible department for Initial Vocational Education and Training (IVET), Continuing Vocational Education and Training (CVET) and the Validation of Prior Learning.
The SFP is also the National Representative of VET policy, the National Reference Point for the European Union and a member of several European Networks on VET policy. The SFP is responsible for VET governance in Luxembourg, in partnership with the professional and employees’ chambers, and coordinates all national IVET programmes for close to 123 occupations. It also administrates state co-financing of in-company training through the National Institute for the Development of CVET (INFPC), which also hosts the “lifelong-learning.lu” platform.
Its two National Training Centres (CNFPC) offer professional continuing training, namely for Digital Skills, as well as Skills for the Green Transition and Soft Skills. Target groups run the gamut of adult continuing education, including reskilling and upskilling opportunities - for instance, in digital skills for low-skilled adults and employment seekers, and preparatory classes for IVET students without apprenticeship contracts.
In 2020-21, the SFP developed the “Diploma +” programme - offered at the CNFPC and secondary schools - a modular one-year training programme teaching labour-market relevant skills in order to prepare recent upper secondary education graduates for higher education or their first jobs.
