Governance for Inclusive Vocational Excellence (GIVE): empowering inclusive excellence in Vocational Education and Training (VET)

The GIVE project, coordinated by La Cometa, an Italian VET centre, aims to innovate the VET sector. How? By promoting social inclusion for disadvantaged people, such as those with migration backgrounds, disabilities, low skills, low qualifications, drop-out history, special learning needs, and challenging socioeconomic backgrounds. They believe that investing in social-emotional and resilience skills, in addition to digital and greening skills, can help to innovate VET.

The collaborative effort of VET centres, universities, and companies resulted in three volumes of Guidelines for Inclusive Training, Tutoring, and Transition to Work. They address inclusive training practises, inclusive tutoring and educational support, inclusive work and transition to work with a focus on young migrants and people with disabilities. The  CoVE project is still moving forward, with 15 training courses set to begin in the autumn of 2023.

Centres of Vocational Excellence projects develop local "skills ecosystems" to provide high quality vocational skills to young people and adults and contribute to regional development and innovation.

Building Bridges: Experts Working Together for Inclusive Excellence

On the World Refugee Day, GIVE’s international conference brought together key stakeholders to address the pressing issue of Inclusive Excellence. The goal was to encourage collaboration among experts in the field, which led to the formation of an online Community of Experts. This active community aims to increase the impact of the GIVE project and invites stakeholders from various backgrounds to join and contribute. Their LinkedIn group serves as a platform for knowledge sharing and engagement. Together, the global community actively promotes inclusivity and excellence while seeking effective solutions. Background

For 30 years, Cometa has been contributing to people's social and economic inclusion through education and training. It provides a welcoming environment for hundreds of children, teenagers, volunteers, professionals, and supporters to grow, study, work, and learn through experience. Among their projects, we can find “La contrada degli artigiani” (The quarter of craftsmen), where master craftsmen help to train at high quality level in woodwork, restauration and internal design 100 students per year coming from a vulnerable background and at risk of school drop off as well as NEETs through job rotation, school curricula related and extra-curricular stages.
