I have completed training as an event manager. As an au pair in the US and through the encouragement of my mother, I realised that I was very good at planning and organising events.
I quickly realized that this was exactly my dream job! My four-week internship at a start-up company in Sweden, my three-month internship with a wedding planner (my personal dream!), and my two business trips to Florence, Italy were the highlights of my training.
There are so many advantages to vocational training: the state-recognised degree, which gives me the opportunity to apply for jobs throughout Germany and Europe; appropriate compensation; specified learning content; experiencing real everyday work from day one by working in concrete operational processes; personal support from the trainer; and being offered a contract of employment after my final exams, which I gratefully accepted.
Since last summer, I have been studying event management by distance learning. Would I do an apprenticeship again? Yes, again and again!
