We are students at the School Complex in Golańcza, Poland. We attend a technical school with a horse breeding facility. We chose this path because we are horse lovers. We have our horses, which we care for, and we train in horse riding and jumping. We also participate in horse competitions. We did an apprenticeship in Italy under the Erasmus + programme where we gained professional experience at a horse stud located near Rimini.
Above all, we must pay attention to a horse’s behaviour, recognising the horse’s emotional states and moods. At the stud, we dealt with the daily care of horses and observed methods of trimming and correcting horses’ hooves. We also observed classes on how to prepare horses for inspections and exhibitions and learned how to present a horse.
We also worked with a young horse. In horse breeding, knowledge about the care of buildings and rooms where the horses are kept is also important. Thanks to the practical training, we deepened our knowledge about horse breeding and were also able to compare the organisation of horse breeding in Poland with that in Italy.
We know one thing for sure – a happy horse is a happy breeder!
