I was born in Düzce in 1994. I developed an interest in fixing things and started working in a mechanic shop as an apprentice during summer holidays. It was good for me as I earned my own money. It was hard but I enjoyed it –it wasn’t as difficult to work there as everybody thinks.
I tried very hard and, in a short time, I began to progress with the help of the specialists there. Bülent Ünal, who taught me about cars, told me about vocational education centres and that was my turning point. I started to learn the theory at school and then practice in my workplace with my mentors.
After three years, I got my journeyman’s certificate. After four years, I received my graduate certificate. Due to my interest and abilities, I became an automotive and electromechanical specialist.
Today I have my own workplace and an apprentice who is studying at Hendek’s vocational education centre as I did.
My profession has given me many things – respect in society, my own business, a car and my own workplace. Teenagers should choose their jobs based on their interests and abilities and seek professional development accordingly.
I thank God for everything. Your profession will give you the life you imagined.
