I have always believed that teachers can make a difference when they are empowered and offered opportunities for capacity building that drives innovation by enhancing both the school system and the students’ educational experience, the latter supporting students in the challenges they face in their transition to work and their lives afterward.
Hence, we chose to align the contents of our mobility programme to the European policy framework for staff professional development covering topics ranging from innovative methodologies to alternating learning, guidance, inclusive education and transition to work for disadvantaged learners, and minimising school dropout.
Despite the pandemic, we were able to motivate and encourage 54 teachers to accept the challenge of a European experience of job-shadowing in France, Spain and Northern Ireland in 2021 to invest in their professional development.
Our teachers came back with greater motivation and an entrepreneurial spirit as educators. They were also more responsive to changes that foster better educational approaches and learning environments.
As their coordinator, I would like to share in their “shout out” for the Erasmus staff mobility programme and its long-lasting benefits for the entire school community by giving them the floor in their video interviews and documentary.
