I completed vocational training as an office management assistant. I chose this occupation because I wanted to go into office work. Since the professions of office clerk, office communications clerk and office communications specialist were merged in 2014 to form the profession of office management clerk, the choice was made quickly.
The highlight of my training was my one-month internship at the Higher Education Authority (HEA) in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. There are many advantages to vocational training, including the practical experience and the direct entry into professional life.
The apprenticeship provides a good professional foundation and can be very advantageous in later studies, if necessary. Another point is, of course, the fact that you earn money immediately and can afford some things early, something that is not self-evident.
I am currently in the final stages of my part-time studies. After that, I aim to continue working at Germany’s Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB). I would definitely do a vocational training again – I recommend training at BIBB to anyone!
