At 23 I graduated with a bachelors degree in Business & management. I worked in sales and office-based jobs before making the decision at 27 to move to Australia for a year. Although I’d never worked with my hands, I accepted an opportunity to work in construction and I never looked back. Every day brought new challenges and new skills to learn. I was inspired by my colleagues, particularly Electricians and I knew I wanted to become an Electrician myself so after 5 years in Australia, I returned to Ireland to make it happen! With a reputation for providing apprentices with opportunities to develop personally and professionally, I knew Designer Group was the company for me. 2.5 years later, I am over halfway through my apprenticeship and have received first class training and opportunities to learn and get out of my comfort zone. I have gained invaluable experience working on commercial and industrial projects and every day I continue to learn and grow as an Electrical apprentice. From day 1, I have received nothing but support and encouragement from Designer Group for which I am so grateful. I am really looking forward to the next 1.5 years of my journey to becoming an Electrician.
