Throughout 2019, events and activities are taking place across Europe as part of European Vocational Skills Week. The actual Week will take place between 14-18 October in Helsinki, but there are plenty of events throughout the year to get involved in.

European Vocational Skills Week aims to promote the value of vocational education and training (VET). Over 1000 events and activities have already registered from all over Europe, and the number keeps growing!

VET-related organisations in the Netherlands are also playing an active role in the Week, promoting opportunities to share knowledge and best practices in the field of vocational education and training.

For example, a number of educational organisations are organising together with the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science the VET Day that is taking place at the Theatre Orpheus of Apeldoorn, in the Dutch province of Gelderland, on the 18th of November. The Day of the VET will bring together talent, craftsmanship, fresh ideas and top speakers from business, sport, politics and education. The event will include interactive small-scale knowledge sessions and 1-on-1 sparring conversations, as well as a gala with, among other things, the elections of the National VET Ambassador.

Another remarkable example is the National Adult Learning Conference organised by several national ministries on the 27th of November in Utrecht. The conference will gather around 500 participants from various sectors, with the objective of stimulating knowledge-sharing and network-building. Participants are invited to submit proposals for sub-sessions, in order to tailor the event to the needs of those involved in adult learning. Topics covered will amongst others include outreach, flexibility of the learning offer, as well as validation and stimulation of a learning culture in companies.

Taking part in the Week therefore provides a unique opportunity for Dutch organisations working in VET. To take part, VET-related organisations simply need to register their events and activities taking place during 2019. No matter how large or small the event, or how small your budget or footfall may be, as long as your event is taking place during 2019 you can take part by registering on the European Vocational Skills Week 2019 website.
